1. General
By hiring equipment or booking a tour with Ethical Tours, you (the “Customer”) agree to abide by the following Terms and Conditions. Ethical Tours is a family-run business based on Main Street, Ballymahon, Co. Longford, providing sustainable and inclusive experiences across Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands.
2. Bookings & Payment
Advance booking is recommended to secure your preferred date, equipment, or tour.
A deposit or pre-payment may be required for group or multi-day bookings; all balances must be cleared before equipment is released.
Payments can be made online, by credit/debit card, or in person. All prices are quoted in Euro (€).
Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the booking date will receive a full refund. Cancellations within 48 hours are non-refundable, except where the activity cannot proceed due to severe weather or at the discretion of Ethical Tours.
3. Collection, Delivery & Returns
Bikes and equipment can be collected from our Ballymahon base or delivered to local accommodation (including Centre Parcs, hotels, and guesthouses) by prior arrangement.
Equipment must be returned by the agreed time and in the same condition as received.
Delays in return or loss/damage to equipment may result in additional charges.
4. Use of Equipment
All equipment - electric and manual bikes, e-mobility scooters, helmets, and safety gear—must be used responsibly and in accordance with local laws and manufacturer’s guidelines.
The Customer is responsible for any equipment used and must report any faults or damage immediately.
Helmets must be worn at all times.
Equipment is for the Customer’s use only and may not be lent, hired, or transferred to others without prior agreement.
5. Safety & Conduct
Participants must be aged 18 or over to hire bikes independently; under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
All users should ensure they are physically able to undertake the chosen activity and must inform Ethical Tours of any medical conditions or accessibility requirements at the time of booking.
Ethical Tours reserves the right to refuse hire or participation to anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or whose behaviour poses a risk to themselves or others.
Customers must act responsibly towards other guests, staff, local communities, wildlife, and the environment, following Leave No Trace principles at all times.
6. Accidents, Loss & Damage
The Customer accepts full responsibility for the equipment during the hire period and is liable for any damage, loss, or theft (except where caused by a proven product fault).
In the event of an accident, breakdown, or puncture, Ethical Tours will provide roadside assistance within our operational area to ensure your experience is safely continued or concluded.
Serious mechanical repairs or replacement due to misuse, negligence or theft may be charged at cost price.
7. Insurance & Liability
Ethical Tours has public liability insurance for guided and self-guided tours.
Personal accident, travel, and third-party insurance are not included; Customers are strongly advised to arrange their own cover where appropriate.
Ethical Tours is not responsible for loss, damage, or injury resulting from Customer negligence, failure to follow instructions, or any incident occurring outside of our control.
8. Weather & Force Majeure
For safety reasons, Ethical Tours reserves the right to postpone or cancel activities in the event of severe weather or other circumstances outside our control. In such cases, customers will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
Ethical Tours cannot accept any liability for cancellation or delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
9. Personal Belongings
Customers are responsible for their own personal belongings throughout the activity. Ethical Tours is not liable for loss or damage to personal items.
10. Data Protection
Personal information will be handled in accordance with the GDPR and our Privacy Policy. Information will not be shared with third parties except as required for operational or safety purposes.
11. Complaints
We strive to provide the best possible experience for all guests. If you have any concerns or feedback, please contact us as soon as possible so we can address your issue promptly.
